    Hi everyone,
Im currently restoring XJ, and im in desperate need of a simple wiring diagram for this bike. Does somebody have pics of their electrical system or wiring diagram or anything? Also, i want to rewire it up without the big instrument cluster so, I also need ideas to wire the bike without the big stock speedometer.
    Thanks

    A "G" would mean it's a 1980 model year bike.

The first thing we need to do is figure out what you have.

On top of the transmission housing (just above the clutch cover) is a number stamped into a small rectangular panel. This will be three digits, numeric and alpha, with a dash and then six more digits.

The first three digits (for instance 4H7, or 5G2, etc.,) are the model identifier and will tell you what bike you have; the second series of digits is the serial number and will positively identify the model year.

You can decode all of that here: http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=14577.html

Or post the number and we'll assist.

This bike was a ex-traffic policeman bike here at Nepal. It was Bought at an auction years ago by my friends grandfather. He had just kept it outside. There is also small digital speedometer above the cluster. I didn't see it in other XJ's i googled online. I'll see the code first thing in the morning tomorrow. Thanks for the assist. :)
