Sounds like its Ignition coil related when you say 1 and 4. Did you check the coil resistance. primary and secondary. If you dont hav the specs..let us know will check and update. Hope you already have checked for the plug wires, caps and plugs. Did you swap the plugs to cyl 2 and 3 to see if spark plugs okay.

the first time it happened i just replaced the cdi box to try it out because i had a spare one. it worked, so i thought, i ran fine for a few days and then the same thing happened, and this time the coil for 1@4 went also. i have a known good coil that i swapped into its place and still nothing. i have a manual for it and every thing seems to check out fine. i consider myself a very compitent mechanic ive been working on cars and bike a long time but this one has me baffled. thank you for the replies and any advice is welcome.

I offer a TCI refresh service if you would like to get your TCI's overhauled.

I open the TCI up, isolate and test the diodes/transistors, replace the electrolytic caps, encapsulate the board and button it back up for a whopping $25 delivered (for forum members, $40 an hour otherwise). If I find a bad component, I replace it. I then test the unit if I have a similar model to your bike and ship it back. If the chip is bad or the daughter board is cracked, it's done and I can't bring it back.
