Ok, so I rode to Raleigh the other day and got caught in the rain. Once we got out of the rain and were on dry roads, my bike died. Couldn't figure it out. Once I got it home, I figured out how stupid I was and noticed there was a fuse blown.

OK so here it goes.... I don't know much bout the system because it was simplified before I bought it.

 Now the setup is a simple switch to power the starter, then a push button to start. The headlight is on a keyed on off..like an atv type that turns on the running tail light and the headlight. I can switch the power to the bike on, start the bike and it will run no problem, but if I go to turn the headlight keyed switch on it blows the 25a fuse every time right away.

Ive replaced the keyed switch and still blows. Checked most of the lower wire connections and can't figure it out. This is an inline fuse that comes off....something  I dont know what it is. Its small and cylindrical.. attached to the positive terminal and the starter motor. The inline fuse comes off that "thing" and goes to the total power switch and the keyed headlight switch.

Ok I know its confusing...cuz Im confused too. I cant figure it out and I hate riding with a curfew. Is there any advice on this topic...?

    Greetings Cassidy.Patrick.
Your biggest problem at the moment is that you have a modified system and no schematic. You need to get the roadmap of where you need to go in order to get there. This is a particularly hard thing to tackle if you have little or no electrical experience. So this will be a difficult road filled with twists and turns as we navigate what you are working with. Along the way you will learn new terms and gain experience.
First order of business, what machine are we working on?
    What wires do you have?
Do you have the capability to photograph the scene of the crime in gory detail? When you describe "this thing", I am utterly in the dark. We need enlightenment. Photos are worth a thousand words.
    RSVP.

Thanks, I'm looking forward to the much needed help. I will post pictures tomorrow of the wiring. I bought a few items to rewire most of it this time in full colors... Most is right using reds greens and others but, alot of them are spliced with short blacks towards the ends. I assume thus was to clean it up...? But reguardless Im sure I can tackle this, I'm not up on terms but I think I have a good working knowldge of what needs to be done. I think the mystry object may be some sort of resistor..? Maybe it's fried and allowing too much power draw? Anyway I'lll get some detailed pics up tomorrow.
    Thanks again,
    Patrick

get a volt meter and just start cheching how much you have going on the key side. Just work back from where your blowing the fuse and see whats happening.

Im not the best on wiring but do you have to have the starter switch also on the use the key start? if they where crossed somehow( maybe at that blown fuse) you may have to much going through that one and need to up the fuse. just a thought.

Thanks for the insight bro. I think I got it figured out. When I ripped the power line out and replaced the online fuse buss I think I solved the problem... Lights work and all so we'll see how it goes Ima ride today. Still good on the 25a fuse didn't blow, I think the short was in the multiple connections he had in one line going to the switch. I Ran it through with a single 12ga. Wire. This time red! Like it should be. Not some red some black and alot of tape lol. Thanks for the help guys
