hi all. i'm about to reassemble my spare engine . pistons , barrels and cams and head also clutch.
is there any motorcycle specific engine assembly lubricant anyone knows of. I would be reluctant to use any, if it contaminated the clutch, or would engine oil be good enough , especially the cams. can't seem to find any just for motorcycles. It may well be a few months before the engine gets to run ,after assembly, as I want to use the existing engine till this winter.
    thanks

There several brands of assembly line that should work fine. After running engine for a short period you have to drain the oil and refill with fresh oil anyway . Just avoid using synthetic oil this type of oil can cause clutch slipping and starter clutch slip as well.

Unless thee was machine work done (rebore, bearing journal cleanup, etc.) you can assemble it with the same oil that you're going to run her with. The only caveat being that you shouldn't then set the engine aside for storage.

I like Lucas assembly lube, but any commonly available assembly lube for gasoline engines will do the job.
