Im not sure whats going on here.

When I am running my bike every once and a while when I hit 3000 rpm the bike bogs down, like its miss fireing or something. I can go thru the gears and as long as I say under the 3000 rpm range I can drive.

I thought it was when the engine was cold but this morning when I went to work the bike ran fine, but on my way home, the bike did this missing thing.

I have an `82 XJ750 with 33000 miles on it.

I had this problem last year at the end of the riding season but didnt really do anything about it, I put new plugs in it this year and it ran great for about a month.

I usally run High octane fuel in it, but I put low octane fuel in it this last fill up. Clould this be my problem, I think I was running low octane fuel in it last year before I stoped riding. I put High octane fuel in it at the begining of this season until this last fill up.

Im leaning towards the fuel. But it also seams like its starving for fuel at high rpm.

Im at a lost, and any help would be apreciated.

I always run high octane fuel in my bike. It tends to Ping on the lower octanes. Have you checked your coils and plug wires? Another possibility might be the fuel petcock which is vacuum actuated. Might have dirt or other debris in the tank causing a blockage under certain conditions.

It sounds like you need a look at the Carbs. The Bogging-out could be a few things.
    Mixture to Rich
    Clogged Emulsion Tubes
    Stuck Starter Jets
Diaphragm Pistons Sticking on the rise.

If the Bike was running good. And you don't have an Electrical Problem shutting-down the Ignition ... the only other place to look is Carbs and Fuel Supply.

You'll have to pull the Carbs and go through them checking the Emulsion Tubes, Pilot Jets and Passages and finish with a Bench Sync, Sync and Pilot Mixtures settings done right.

Do you have Carb sticks and a Colortune Plug?

I have a Colortune Plug, but not Carb Sticks.

Come to think of it, I could be running rich, I did have my carbs off last year to clean them.

Looks like I may have some work ahead of me. Good thing its been rainy outside.
