Just wondering if an XS1100 or XJ1100 engine would be able to fit an xj650 frame or what mods would need to be done to make this possible.

I just got a good hit off of Craigslist for an XS1100 engine so it kind of peaked my curiosity. 8)

I do know that the front engine mounting bolt on the XJ/XS1100 is longer than the 650/750 bolt. This would lead me to thing the 1100 engine is wider and therefore would not fit between the down tubes.

Just wondering if this was ever figured out? What kind of modifications would have to be done?

I have a line on an 1100 engine too, something my neighbour picked up for $50. And, given the fact I am having problems with my transmission, I was wondering how hard this modification would be?

I doubt you'll be able to cram it in there any way. I think its just too big and wouldn't match-up even if it did go.

You'd have to build a frame around it.
Complete with motor mounting points and some raised center tube.

I don't think it cam be done without some radical cutting and welding.
I think your trying to get your boots in a shoe box.

I was afraid of that. Just the opportunity was there, and this 1100 has 20000 kms on it. I thought that, if I could, I would have an 1100 on a 750 frame.... Thanks anyway!
