Has anyone here ever cut their stock tail pipes off behind the collector and replaced them with long straight drag pipes? I would like to know what the collector pipe diameter is at the tail pipe.

if you decide to do that make sure you change out all the jets in your carbs or else you'll suck gas like mad style

I recently replaced my exhaust and have a rusty collector in the basement.
I also have brand new seals for tailpipe to collector.
Using good dial calipers the two pipes coming out of the rear collector measure about 1.5 inches in diameter. The Yamaha stock gasket that seals the collector to the tailpipe has an outside diameter of 1.73 inches and an inside diameter of 1.5 inches. Hope that helps.

I cut my mufflers off at the rear pegs. All I have left is straight pipe and the cones. looks great sounds even better. its super easy to do. I used a portaband. I did have my entire exhaust system off when I did it. But you could probably just take of the mufflers. I am new to this site but I will upload pics soon.

My plan is to cut my mufflers off at the collector and replace them with 27 inch straight pipe with internal baffles.I dont know how it will sound though.
