I went on a long ride today and while in gear I started to hear backfires and pops. As soon as I brought the clutch in it would stop. I never got faster than 50 mph.

Im not sure what is causing this. It hasn't happened before.

It runs perfectly with the 4 into 2, cut off baffles, and I reset the jets and installed uni pod filters last year... I put some sea foam into the tank and changed the gas from premium to ultra.

    could it be the mixer?

    thanks

did you upgrade your jets when you installed the pod filters? If so, what jets did you use?

It sounds like a possible lean issues.

Let's see your plugs... I would get a lot of popping on slow-down when my mixture was lean.

I wouldn't go any higher than 91 octane, btw... No reason, just 91 should be more than enough.

    Popping indicates a lean condition.
