exstatic - just got another XJ - hooray

Lost my last XJ in a vicious garage cleanout years ago. Just won an XJ600 on fleabay. I am hoping its not as abused as the last one I picked up. It has been forgotten under previous owners house for 4 years. I am expecting gluggy oil in motor, noisy camchain, neglected rear shaft drive box, seized discs, thin discs, rusty tank and corroded fork tubes. An I weird to just love this shit? Will pick up in a few days and share my findings. I have a teenager and a son who has already owned his starter bike and looking for an upgrade. An XJ600 should be a mild way for him to move up in the power stakes. The other reason I am excited is that I have a reason to get back involved with this website, as well as you guys. I think your bike should be called "Wicked Witch".

 

Owned my XJ since new, but for about 10 years didn't ride much. However, I never let condition slide much. It would exercised every summer with an oil change and running at least one tank of treated, non ethanol gas through ir each summer. Last 3 years I've put 20% of the total miles on it after brakes, valve adjustment, tires etc redone. Great to be back on the road again..

I feel bad for nice vintage motorcycles at get neglected in weeds or barns.
