WELCOME from TN!!! These bikes aren't the best to modify (but way doable). Lots of builds on the "XJ MODIFICATIONS" board to look at for ideas...

Hey, that's a nice looking bike you have there! I myself have been torn between making my XJ750 into a Bobber but since I have all the extras on it I think I am going to try to keep this one original. By the way, I like your round headlight, it looks much better I think than the rectangle one they put on the XJ750's. I also would really like to build a Bobber one day. I have been collecting some pics I have run across on the net of Bobbers I like. Some are really cool to say the least and with yours having the round headlight to begin with it should make a great looking Bobber! Best of luck, I am sure you will enjoy the way it turns out in the long run. 81'XJ750SecaR, grunt 007, Mi.

I wont be able to do any GREAT work on it till after my tour over seas, but I want to get it running smoothly at least before I leave.

I've also been collecting pics of bobbers, to study and my only question is about the back of the frame, I'm unsure if its welded off or when you take the back fender off it come with it?

Most people use a hacksaw or cut-off wheel, but yes - you could just use a stick welder turned all the way up and just blast the rear of the frame off !!

That would be the beginnings of an "I don't care" rat bike !! Good idea.

    Welcome from Arizona.

Personally With all you have to work with there, I'd try to cherry her out!!
Sorry, I'm just not much into bobbers...

    Good Luck with your bike

Be careful serving our country and come back all in 1 piece!!

    By the way, Thank You!

My girl is really good welder, and has done work on other bikes. I seen what thatguy did to his bike and it seems welding is the way to go.
