I am a first time bike owner. I went with a 1981 Seca XJ750. The first thing I did was clean the carbs because it wasn't running right. Then I took the stock air box out and replaced with the pod filters. After days of not being able to figure out why it was running (or not running) I found this website! The first thing everybody says is don't mess with the intake. LOL
Unfortunantly for me I destroyed the old box getting it out. However there is a guy down the way that is selling an airbox off of 1983 Maxim 750. Would this fit? The next thing I need to get is the XJCD everybody here is always talking about. Thanks for the help.

Nice bike - same year/make/model as the one I just picked up ;-)

    Where you located?

Yeah, from what I have heard, pods are a pain. There are a lot of things you can check to get her tuned up even with pods. Even if the carbs are cleaned there are quite a few things you want to check, like the valve clearances, etc... You might have to rejet the carbs for the pods. Honestly - you will spend days looking through these forums and writing notes on things you have to check, recheck, change, fix, clean, adjust, and buy ;-)

Good luck, keep us up to date on how your doing! ;-)

I live in Gardner,KS just south of Kansas city. I can't wait to get this thing on the road. I just put a fresh paint job on it and I think it looks great. I just need to get it running LOL.

I don't think fit will be the problem.
Some of these airboxes don't go back in with the motor in the frame.
I can't remember if 750 was one of tehm.
