So, my bike would was hard as hell to start. I could tell that t was getting way too much gas. So I pulled the carbs off, cleaned them, benchsynced them, put them back on... nothing changed, wouldn't start.

Then it hit me, looking at the fuel filter, I saw that the PO put it onbackwards, I didn't think it would make much difference, so I flipped it over. I took the gas tank off and I realizes the vaccuum shut off wasn't working properly. So pretty much when I initially drove my bike home and parked it, gas was conitually leaking into the engine. I started the thing up and it ran beautifully.

Thanks for everyone who gave me advice. I'll be doing alot of maitenance over the winter. Now to take it for a ride in the Blue Ridge Mountains near Lynchburg VA. Anyone in the area is welcome t join!!!

Open the oil cap and sniff, if you smell any gas, change your oil right away. If gas has leaked thru the carbs, it will be in the block with your oil and ruin the motor over time. Check oil levels, if they are above where they were, then you definitely had gas leak into the block.

I love to ride the Blue Ridge area, or take a shot at Deals Gap.

A cheap Fuel Filter can really hurt performance.
I had one bring me right to a halt.

A Briggs and Stratton Shut-off will save you from having gas in the Crankcase until you can deal with the reason why.

Put it on right next to the Petcock.
"Black-it-out" with Black Nail Polish and it won't look bad.

Paint some of the extra Red and the Hose Clamps Black.
