My FJ has developed a problem.

Occasionally, not every ride, on the highway, warmed up, at steady cruise and throttle barely open, the engine will stumble. It will do it once or twice, then run again.

This only happens at 4000 RPM and above. The tach needle jumps up when this happens. FJ has an electronic tach.

I have replaced plugs to no effect. I also tried jiggling all wire harnesses with the bike running. No effect either way. The fuel line is routed properly. I also tried pulling out choke when this happens, and that didn't do anything.

I'm thinking that since it only happens on a fully warm bike and at a specific RPM, it's an ignition problem.

The tach jumping when it stumbles screams ignition problem.

The only sure-fire way to test (once you eliminate teh possibility of an intermitant short or break) is to swap out the ignition module with a known good one. You could also just dive right in and open the module up to see if there are any solder joints that need to be re-flowed, or components that need to be replaced (capacitors would be the most likely culprit).
