Flat spot under 2000 rpm

    Hi Folks
    My 550 has been running great....carb rebuild, valve settings etc..... but was beginning to not start so good. So following the brilliant "how to" video I set about sorting the problem. Bike now starts first time and runs extremely well......apart from flat spot up to just over 2000 rpm....and sometimes surges at just below that...any ideas?

    Which how to video was this? Many of the videos on Youtube are flat out wrong. Did you get the link for it from here?

    OK, good. Did you take off the top hats and inspect the slide diphrams for holes/tears? Did you clean and polish the slides and slide bores?
    Did you do the full Church of Clean?
    Bench synch? Float levels wet set? Running synch? Idle mixture set?
    I just want to get a clear baseline of what was done before walking through troubleshooting.
