from everything i've read to date, the fuel level is adjusted by moving the "tang" centered in the float body either up or down. well, after rebuilding and cleaning it's time to set the float level. i went to do that this evening and carb #1 was overflowing out of the top of the bowl. so i removed all the bowls and held the carbs upright with the floats hanging. when i look at the from the side float #1 hangs lower...which of course means the gas has to be higher in the bowl to stop flow. so i adjust float tang #1 and no change in fuel level. i adjusted again, no change. over adjusted, no change. after looking at the float itself more closely and how it operates i noticed that when the carbs are held roughly as they would sit on the bike the float tang doesn't even touch the float needle spring/clip. i can adjust that tang all day in any direction and it has no apparent effect. then i noticed that it's actually another "tang" (semi circle shaped) on the right (if the carbs were on the bike and you were seated it would be on the right) of the metal of the float body that controls how far the float can hang down. i bent it towards the rear of the carb to open up the semi circle more and now they hang equal. am i totally missing something, or did i read what i thought i wrote in a dream...or maybe i'm just losing it. any thoughts?

Reading that made my head hurt. I hope I'm not the only one. I'm glad you got it figured out though.

Whew!!!! - Glad you figured it out!!!

I had a similar problem, but mine was a leaking float. Very small crack along a seam. Chased that one for awhile.....

    Congrats!!!
