Today I am working on the carbs for the 750, PO said they were cleaned and serviced not long ago (yeah right). The truth is that the carbs were not too bad but that is also a long shot from calling them "clean".

The enrichment well in the bowls was clean to my surprise. Upon visual inspection the floats are all set at different levels (I will attempt to wet-set them in a few minutes).

The butterflies totally shut the passage, no 1/16th clearance so I will bench sync as well, could this be reason why it was hard to get started and flood the carbs?

The cylinders didn't pass the clunk test so now they are clean as well as the bores and they all fall freely and at the same rate.

The bowl drain screws have been replaced with allen screws (thanks Len), and the bowls look a lot better.

Hopefully this is the source of the rev'ing up from 2k to 4k RPM as well as having a hard time starting.

I just need this bike to get going to take it to the DMV for inspection and get it titled. I will tear this carbs apart in the winter to get them super duper (scientific term) clean.

Now off to wet-set the bowls, hopefully I can get them right.
