Found two thin metal washers at the bottom of my fork when I took the stanchion off. Both were bent. I can't make out on the diagram where they go. Maybe they're just extra parts?! Haha help! 1981 Seca 750

Maybe your knowledge can answer my new question. Apparently there is no oil lock on this one. Also no air cap. Could mine be different since it's an 81'? Although all other parts look identical.

I'm not sure about the lack of an oil lock. I'll have to consult the FSM tonight. I'm pretty sure that the air system was added in '82.

    Apples to Oranges . . . .

My 81 650 Maxim has no air system on the forks.

The oil lock valve may be "stuck" down in the lower tube. All XJ750 Seca/XJ750 Euro models have them. The air system on these models is via upper fork (chrome) tube AIR COLLARS, rather than thru the top cap bolt.

Correct. I figured that out when I stuck my finger up there and felt it lol. I put them back together and seem to be OK so far. But not on the bike yet since it's still in a thousand pieces. I appreciate all the help! I'm sure I'll have 999 more questions!
