Does anyone by any chance know if Fram have superceeded this filter, and if so, what the new code number is please, as it is no longer available, and not been made by Fram or available in the UK since about 25/10/2010 according to their web site.

    Thanks

Not sure what to tell you as I bought one here in Canada a couple weeks ago. Canadian Tire sells them. Don't know if its the last of their inventory but they are usually always there??

The reason for fram is that they come with the rubber oil seals needed, that's all, and it seem to be the brand that everyone advises. At Yamaha the oil seals are extra, Not sure about Hi Flo or any of the others as to whether they come with the rubber oil seals or not.

if you're desperate, order a few then they all can just get shipped at once... or if their shipping is a ton, i would be willing to go buy a few locally for you and ship you them if you sent me whatever the cost was...

The Wix filter comes with the o-ring for the housing, but not for the bolt.

I buy them (FRAM CH6003) at Advance Auto all the time; they generally all seem to stock them. O'Reilly's/Murray's is spotty, some stores yes some no, same for AutoZone. Plus they're all over the place online.

The local Yamaha dealer carries the K&N, with no o-rings. And they want $18. 8O

Dennis Kirk offers many different brands of oil filters for our bikes. I've always gone with the Fram one (O-rings included) and have never had a problem. There are slightly cheaper ones but remember you get what you pay for.

Sorry for no response for a while.

It looks like I need to get hold of the Fram filter as I've just discovered that yes I can get the filter housing to block O ring ok, here in the UK, BUT the bolt O ring that needs to be changed at the same time, is no longer available, I knew it wasn't available here in the UK, and from searches I've done on the net, is no longer available worldwide.

Sorry for still being a pain

I can't explain enough, how awesome the spin on oil adapter is.

So simple to change oil, filters great, cheap to change.

I just changed oil and filter this past weekend. Just a little over $20 after tax to do it.
Not a drop of oil on the driveway :)
