    does anyone know of one? I want to make sure this bike has not been stolen before i sink time and money into it.

    I used to be able to call the CHP but since last year, they don't do that any more. The DMV wants paperwork and $$$. What a pain...

    This is probably not a bad idea. Keep in mind that it's an insurance database. How many people maintain insurance on their motorcycles, particularly bikes from the 90's and older.

    It's a start though. I think I'd still check with the police to be sure.

    thanks for the thread. A friend i local police dept checked and said it was not stolen. But also said it was not on file. But she also said that is very common.
