Just wanted to take a moment to wish our US based XJ brethren a Happy Thanksgiving, and say be careful tomorrow!

Seems we're importing black Friday tomorrow too, since Asda is owned by Walmart they're doing ridiculous prices from 8am tomorrow... Might mosey on down there to watch people fighting over kids toys & televisions and such! 8O :?

I had to pick up some stuff at hte hardware store yesterday.....I told the clerk that I was doing my Black Wednesday shopping. She looked at me with a confused look, but the manager was standing right there, and burst out laughing.......

Thanks for the Thanksgiving wishes! We had a very nice Thanksgiving with Family. That's what it's all about.

I'm usually not a complainer, but this year I stayed away from Black Friday.

    1. Unless you want to wait in line for hours for the door-buster item that you are interested in, then you won't get it. Of course there are many other items at a good price.

    2. Don't like the idea that they are now starting the sales at 5:00 PM on Thanksgiving day. It is cutting into what Thanksgiving is all about. I agree, some people have to work on Friday and can't make the sales on that day. But hey, do it online.

    3. For the non door-buster items, you can now get the Black Friday prices all the way to Sunday at most all places (so that means from Thursday afternoon to Sunday night). And stocks should be available for these not highly prized but good discounted items.

    4. I wonder when Black Friday prices will start on Wednesday instead of Thursday?

Oh yes, today we purchased a complete stainless steel set of kitchen appliances to replace our contractor specials which all had issues in the 9 years we have had them. And yes, they are Black Friday specials, but I guess it must be a long Friday because the sale runs until Wednesday the 4th.

Not complaining so much about the sales themselves mind you, just the fact that they are now intruding on Thanksgiving day.

I suppose for you in the UK, there no holiday to disrupt on the forth Thursday of the month.

That's true, there's no holiday.... yet. I've heard talk of us "importing" thanksgiving too though, seems a bit backward to me since it actually came from us in the first place but hey who am I to argue with gaining a holiday back if it happens! :)

I've read about how Black "Friday" has been pushed further and further... I just think it's hideous how desperate some people get that they'll fight & trample other humans just to get at material possessions (especially considering how the day before or even the same day they were supposed to be giving thanks for what they had!) Can't argue with the prices, but where have the morals gone?
