I own a 1981 XJ 750 SECA. The previous owner installed a windjammer fairing on the front. My front brake lever has become mushy and when applied the bike doesn't slow down at all. When I look in the manuals and online I see that this model shows a master brake cylinder at the lever on the handlebars. There is no master brake cylinder on this bike at the lever. When I trace the line it seems to go to a central point where the line branches off to both sides of the wheel for braking. What I am trying to figure out is where is the master cylinder. I am attaching a photo of the brake lever side of the handlebars and the right side brake mechanism at the wheel. Any help would be appreciated.

I think you got one of them fancy remote brake master cylinders. You might need to remove the fairing to access it, but it should be mounted somewhere behind the headlight.

The master cylinder is behind the headlamp, mounted on the triple tree. It is remotely actuated via a cable. You will need to remove the fairing to gain access. You'll want to rebuild it, along with the brake calipers, and clean out the anti-dive units if you wish them to operate properly (the small pistons tend to stick), as well as putting on new brake lines.
