you have the double caliper on yours? right?. take them apart and rebuild them..Thats what im doing..Its cheaper and its not that hard....I have some pics posted on the chat forum...I will be glad to help with any questions I can. The maximx "really" has a good braking system "I think"...Its all in the maintenance...If you get all the parts you should be able to get them done in a half day...day max...If your mechanicly inclined couple of hours tops... Well I hope this helps...Ridz safe...ridz 8)

Make sure your rotors and pads are clean. Leaky fork oil seals can cover your brakes with oil and make them not work. Take the pads out and if they look dry, sand them a little, clean the rotors with brake cleaner and put it back together. If they are covered in oil, it's probably best to buy new pads. If that doesn’t solve your problems then you may need to flush the brake fluid and bleed your brakes or rebuild the calipers and/or master cylinder then flush and bleed.. I lot of times the seals in the calipers will be fine and it all just needs to be cleaned out well and put back together. If all of that is good to go and you were really just asking about getting a better caliper for your bike, then forget everything I said above and search the internet or this forum for how to fabricate brackets to mount an R6 or R1 brake system to your bike.

More often than not ... the Caliper on the Max-X stays in-the-game ... and, the Master Cylinder has the problems.

But, since you are getting into the Caliper's, anyway ... they're Aluminum.
    They'll clean-up like brand new.

You get the lower-end all cleaned-up great ... and, then we'll reassemble it nice ... get it hooked-up and bled-out.

They both should come out..I hooked mine up to the master cyclinder and tied one off..Pump up the break lever and it should push the unsecured piston out...Take it out take the seal and dust seal cover out...Replace the piston back in the caliper...ok now secure it down..pump up the brake and walah other piston should pop out of there..These guyz are some real knowledgable guyz... 'ridz given mad props to the men ' :D ...They had a great idea to use a c-clamp to secure piston in the caliper...Better than the manuals instructions to tie a rag around the piston and caliper to secure the piston..rember this....Be vey careful with the hadling of the piston and with the inside of caliper wall. these should be very clean and very smoothe surfaces....Good luck...Ridz Safe..Ridz 8)
