Tonight I starting going through my 650 to get it ready for the season, and as I opened the valve cover to check the valves, I noticed that the front cam chain guide was in two pieces. Luckily I had a spare kicking around and was able to replace it.

My question is about the fitting of the guide. Should it be under tension when it is in place or should it drop in place fairly easily.

I know that there is a vally or notch in the lower end where the guide should rest, but since the motor is in the bike, it is very hard to see. Going by feel I have two positions, the first I slide the guide down the front wall of the motor and the top end drops into place easily. The second, the lower end is back a little further and then tension is applied to the top of the guide and it pops into place, it also pops out quite easy as well.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated as it is quite nice weather here in La Belle Province and riding time is upon us.

    Thanks
