I have an '82 Seca 650. Thinking of doing a Front End Swap with another newer bike...but thinking is about where it stalls. What experiences are out there on this? What has the highest success rate? Year, make, model of front end suggested? I'd like minimal engineering if possible.
Or will be better(cheaper) if i just update some of the current parts?

also, who's got a line on easy to install rear-sets for the seca?

There's a place you can send the triple trees and forks out to and they'll modify them to fit each other. Check out the XJ modifications section, there's a thread on a bike called 'Shadow Warrior', he had it done.

I've never heard of anyone doing it, but perhaps you could just install cartridge emulators if you can find some for another same-sized fork set. As far as brakes, I believe the calipers on these bikes is a pretty unique fit, though I think the XJ900 calipers work backwards with some of the smaller XJ's and are larger, you'll need to research that a bit more yourself, though.

Keep in mind, though, that no matter how you frame it, this is a dualshock bike with an old school frame--it's never going to handle like a modern bike.
