sorry to keep asking questions, but i am a complete newbie.

My left front fork seems to be leaking grease or oil. right is nice and clean.
is this something simple to fix or am i better off going to a shop. also is it just a fork seal and some oil in the fork?
I ordered to xjcd but not sure when i will receive.

    thanks for the help.

    Kevin

Sounds like the fork seal - search for fork seal on the forums - there are plenty of how to's and lots of advice. I have not done one but it does not look too bad from what have read....

    Kevin,
This can be a simple fix or it can be difficult, depending upon your mechanical experience. Having access to the right tools is helpful as well as a good maintenance manual. They are reasonably priced and pay for themselves.
Where is the oil leaking from?
If it is the fork seal, bit of a fight but do-able.
Bottom of the fork, tighten the stanchion(?) allen bolt.
    Inboard drain screw? Tighten.
See where I'm going with this?

One other thing on this one, if you do decide to tackle the changing of the fork seal; make sure you tighten everthing back up (made the mistake of not double checking on mine), after you remove the old seal, clean the inside where the seal sits to make sure the new one will seat completely. (another of those problems when I changed mine) and you may want to order new c-clips that hold the seal in place as well as new clips for the top plug. They will get weak over time and may not hold as well as the should. Oh and order new dust seals. I did these things the last time I changed my leaking seal and havn't had any problems since. (sorry about rambling)

Don't just swap seals Replace the slider bushings as well as the white or ings. Doing it right will restore/transform the handling, patching it will only stop the oul leak.
