    Hey Everybody,

I am getting to the point where I will be putting new tires on my 1981 XJ750 Seca project. I am going to stick with the size that is on the rear now, 120/90-18. On the front, which my manual calls out as a 3.25-19, there is currently a 100/90-19. I don't know if it is an optical illusion or what, but the front tire looks so skinny to me that it almost resembles a bicycle tire! Has anyone ever put a 110/90-19 on one of these bikes? I just happen to have a Shinko tire in that size that I bought new for a different bike, but ended up not using it, as I sold that bike before I had the chance. I would love to be able to put it to use, and I think it would look good on the Seca, if it fits?

100/90-19 is the correct size for the front. You're just used to looking at modern motorcycles with their wide-for-fashion tires.
The 110 should fit, but it will slow the turn-in a little (though it might not be enough to notice).

You are probably right... I have the bike sitting next to a xs750 triple with the same size front tire (new Shinko), and I *swear* the XS tire looks bigger than the XJ tire... weird.

Sidewall and tread profiles vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, and from tyre model to tire model. The actual width at the widest point of the tire will therefore vary as well. There is "wiggle room" built into the standard.

If you go with a larger front tire it will also change your speedometer/odometer

Yeah... it was a thought. After ruminating on it a bit I think Ill just order a 100/90 Shinko for the front, and just hang onto the 110/90....Maybe I could toss it out into the back yard for a dog chew toy :)
