    Hi all,

Recently purchased an as-is '91 YX600 and am having a lot of fun fixing it up. Just finished reworking the electrical system, and have managed to get everything except the turn indicators working.

One big problem I've run into concerns the fuel cap. Originally, none of the keys provided with the bike even fit in the key slot, but after some WD-40 I was able to get the key to fit, engage, and turn 45 degrees. My understanding is that the key has to turn 90 degrees in order to lift open the fuel cap.

What I have noticed is that there is very little/no resistance when turning the key to 45 degrees, and then absolutely no give trying to push past this.

Does anyone have any recommendations, or will I be stuck drilling out the lock and replacing the whole cap?

Thanks for any advice you could provide.
