    Hey Guys,
Hope this question hasn't been asked yet, didn't see it after the search,
but I have no fuel gauge on my maxim 400, can I install one, and if so how much work do you think it would be?
    Thanks Mac

The sender for the gauge fits in a big hole on the under side of the tank. Unless you already have such a hole covered by a metal plate you'd have to cut one out which might not be too practical. Also, the gauge is in either the tach or the console so you'd have to add that. Then when you have the gauge and the sender just wire them up and you're good to go.

I still have the sending unit in my tank and it would be nice if I could find some type of gauge to mount somewhere to be able to see the gas level. I am able to move the float up and down inside the tank, so I have to do some experimenting with gauges to see what I can get to work. Any ideas where to find one, other than an automotive store? I'd like to keep it as small as possible. Thanks! >PD<

The tach on an XS1100 has a gauge in it that will work with a little modification. You might be able to use one for a car but it has to be able to work with your sender. The one on my Seca went from 30 ohms full to 330 ohms empty so you would need one that can accept that range of inputs.

Thanks Steve! I will find something if I look long enough. I like fabricating my own stuff anyways. PD

VDO sells a small gauge, you might even adapt one out of a car(?).
