Hi all, got the old girl fired up last night after a 12 year wait (PO's), and this followed a big carb clean and fuel flush and refuel, on checking her this mornig I was met by a gig pool of fuel on the garage floor
It is coming from what appears to be a seal held on by a small circlip on the outside edge at the front of the carb nearest the fuel tap (I will try a picture in a minute)
Question is, is it a seal that has gone (and what is it called so I can order a new one)
    or
Is it something like a built-in overflow/ pressure type thing and by float valve might be sticking open (altough was all clear when I put it back together- best my ham fists could do anyway)
    Thanks all
    :D

It's called a V-seal and XJ4ever sells them. It's not an o-ring. The job requires splitting the rack as only the outer 2 are accessible.

    Here's a tutorial:

Also if you had fuel on the floor you have leaking float needles and possibly a leaking petcock (or you left it in the PRI position). All easily fixable.

What biggs said! It is your throttle shaft seal. Your carb filled up with gas and the fuel had to go somewhere. You should check your engine oil level too. It's probably flooded/diluted with gas. Smell inside the oil filler hole, you'll know. Don't run it like that. You'll have to change your oil/filter in addition to servicing the carbs.
