I have read on a thread some where ( I know that does not help) that sometimes the aftermarket float needles can be slightly different in size compared to the originals. So, if that's the case then no matter how clean the carbs are those needles could be letting a little bit of fuel go by.
To be on the safe side give your oil a sniff and see if you can smell gas. Again, it's possible that fuel could have made it's way into the bottom end and what you see "1/8 of a teaspoon" could be what has gone to the outside.
I hope someone else can remember where to locate that thread on the needle size issue.

    Cheers, Graham

    There have been many.

Yes there is about a 1mm difference between the old needle and a new one. But it isn't a problem if you have wet-set the float valves to 3mm below the carb bodies.

It is best to have the same new needles for all four carbs, but not totally required, as long as you wet-set each carb.

Running the engine without the intake boots has a tendenacy to spit fuel back out the carbs, especially if you rev the engine and the floats are a little high. Double check your float levels with the clear tube method. Correct if needed. Keep an eye on it to make sure the floats and not overfilling the bowls .
