Fuel shooting out of hole in front of air filter.

    Hi Guys !

    My 1982 XJ650 Maxim is leaking fuel. I’ve taken out the battery box and air filter. When I started it, after about 10 seconds, fuel shoots out of the little hole in front of the filter behind and under the gas tank. Don’t know how to proceed...

    Check the level of your crankcase and be sure you don't have a tank of gas in your oil.

    Sounds like you've got a full one, and running it throws the extra into your airbox through the crank vent.

    Ok, will do. Tnx. If so, would I then drain the oil and change the filter. Or drain all the fluids...gas too...?? Gas tank is almost empty...

    if your fuel ended up in the crankcase you need some carb work. your needle valves are the likely culprit.
    is your petcock set on pri(me)?

    As mentioned above, carb (and maybe petcock) work is required. No tstarting teh bike until you get that tanke care of.
    Fuel should never be in the crankcase. Very bad things happen if you ride it with that problem.
