What is your opinion on fuel tank trim? I am considering doing my black tank in gold trim the whole length of the tank. Does anyone have this done? Pics would be appreciated.
    Thanks

I did the gold trim all the way around the tank on my 1100. I like it. I ordered it from Chacal. I don't have any pics, and I'm in a different state as my bike right now. Go for it!

I thought this was stock on Maxims?
Ah, It just went around the front, not the hole tank.

Yeah. That is the stock trim, but Chacal has aftermarket trim in different colors and lengths.

Mine is red, I went with the chrome. PO had gold on it but I liked the chrome. I did the whole tank. I like it better - pics in my gallery.

I just used door trim from Autozone...

I replace the shorty one on my tank with a full-length chrome one. I used automotive door-edging, and it has an adhesive inside of it to hold it in place. I don't even have the small clips (that usually have rusted out and fallen off a long time ago) on the tank. The easiest way to put it on?---take the tank off of the bike, grab your wife's favorite blowdryer when she's not looking, and warm up a about a foot at a time, and push it into place. Be careful to get a nice smooth curve around the front of the tank. I trimmed mine at a slight angle at the two ends at the back of the tank. The trim will make your bike REALLY look a lot nicer. See my XJ650 Maxim in my gallery. The tank that is on it is a XJ750 tank, and the pics with the full fairing hide the tank, but if you look through the gallery you can see pics of it before the trim when on.
