I was riding today and had to use the reserve on my gas tank for the first time. I know the tank holds 5 gallons of fuel. Does anyone know how much fuel the reserve tank holds and when the red warning light starts flashing how much fuel is left in the reserve?
    Thanks.

KrS14, thanks for the information. I did find a spec in the Haynes manual that said the reserve was 1.1 US gallons. I looked in my original owners manual and it just states that when the red warning light starts to flash it is a low fuel warning but it does not specify how much fuel is left. The thread you did give me had some good info from other riders.

My 750 Maxim has to switch to reserve before the low fuel warning light starts blinking. I think the sender needs adjustment. I have one bar left when it starts to run out of gas. Flip it over and about ten more miles the light starts to blink. And if I don't get gas soon after , she runs out and it's a walk to the station.

I have to switch to reserve a little ways after I go down to 1 bar on the fuel gauge. There are 4 bars on the gauge for 5 gallons, so 5/4 = 1.25.
So you could assume for every bar gone you've used 1.25 gallons of gas, so when you have 1 bar left you've used 3.75 gallons (3 x 1.25), leaving you 1.25 (5-3.75), which is in the ballpark of the 1.1 reserve capacity.
