Gas tank compatibility?

    Anyone have any experience swapping fuel tanks around? Mainly, I'm wondering what else might fit on my 82' 650 Maxim frame. Actually, REALLY wondering if the tank from a similar period XS400 (Blasphemous?) will.
    Apologies in advance if I have offended anyone.

    There rear mount & petcock locations look very similar, so it's a question of backbone & front mount geometry. If it's close, I'll do the work to make it work.

    The XS400 is quite a bit smaller. You will have to do surgery to the bike to make it fit on an XJ650.

    Do your homework... I have a tank swap write-up here in the forums.

    In short, though, the bolt-on swap for the 650 maxim tank, is a 750 maxim tank,
