For the first time since I got my Maxim, I'm getting a little lean pop at idle. Runs like a scalded dog when you open the throttle. The valves have been carefully adjusted, Colortuned, balanced, etc. and has always idled perfectly. This is the first year it has had to run on 10% alcohol. Does that blend run a bit leaner that staight gas? If so, I can back the mixture screws out a quarter turn to richen the idle a bit. Anyone else having issue with this gas?

    Thanks,

alcohol requires more fuel to run at stoich., so yes it will lean out the mix.
    gasoline - 14.7:1
    ethanol - 9:1
    methanol - 16.4:1

Thanks, Zooki. I'll richen up the idle a bit. Sure better than pulling carbs.

my wifes mustang has been getting about 2 mpg less since the switch over from mtbe to 10% ethanol, and in the winter they oxygenate our fuel up here so it gets even worse!

also, when they switched over, a bunch of youth atv racers i wrench for suddenly found thier quads would not run. had to bump the pilots up 2 sizes on about 5 quads!

good luck with the screw, i agree that pulling carbs is not the most fun (after the first time i pulled them, i decided pod filters are going on, and tossed the box)
