Hi... I've come across a full gasket set which is advertised as for a
Yamaha XJ750 (11m), can anyone tell me if this (11M) would be suitable for my 82 maxim J?
Apart from carbs exhaust and maybe gearing, are the 1982 xj750 motors and their parts interchangable?

My documentation says that the 11M model code is, in fact, the European 750J, so I do believe that is in fact the correct gasket set for your application.

Actually I believe he has an imported 15R model XJ750J (our Maxim) from the USA.

The European XJ750 (11M) would be the same as our 5G2 model 750R (seca).

However, both the 750Maxim and 750R used the same engine and carbs, just different jetting. Not sure about the exhaust.

So any gasket kit for a 15R, 11M, or 5G2 will fit your motor.

You are correct tskaz, mine is the 15R, imported in '96. and thanks for the reply, and schmuckaholic too.
I suspected the mechanicals where the same, I was just playing it safe.
I better get my wallet out then!
