This isnt for my maxim tho some people may benefit from this. Well the handgrips that are on my husky are all torn up at the ends from leaning up against walls and trees to start... so the pressurized air wont work... can i just cut them off? im not worried about damaging the bars because im getting new ones, or the throttle thing because its plactic so it will have cuts but the grips will cover it.

Putting grips back on is what i would like to know about. i think you boil the grips to soften them.... but im getting gel grips so im not sure about that... i think someone once said liquid dish soap works because it lubes it and once it dries it acts like a glue. but im not sure. The hand grips on my old warrior used to fall off all the time so i threw some gorilla glue on there... it bubbles out forever tho but it never came off. so anysuggestions on how to remove old rubber grips and put on new gel grips would be greatly appreciated thanks

i said this in the last thread about this, I just used pb blaster between the bars and grips to remove. Dried them out (i was reinstalling the same grips on new bars), and once I shoved em on the new bars they haven't moved at all.

Do just as you were about to do.
    Cut them off.

Smear dish washing soap on the bar and inside the grip.
    Smear.
    Not slather!

The soap lubes things enough to get them on.
Once the soap dries-out it acts as an adhesive.

    There you go.

You can still use compressed air on your mangled grips - just lift the grip a bit at the end and point the nozzle in there. It will "lift " the grip and you will be able to slide them off (might take a bit of practice).

If you use lubricant to slide your grips back on it will become a slippery problem (IE: dangerous) if you ride in the rain.....

Cut off with a knife. To install as mentioned hair spray or spray paint.
