Getting ready for fork seal replacement on my 82 XS400 Maxim

    I didn't need to use a fork holding tool to loosen the bolt on my 400.
    Used my workmate bench to hold them steady.

    Replace the dust caps too is a good idea, and depending on the condition maybe the circlips at the top of the forks.

    For me the big problem was getting the old ones out, but 1 cap was cracked and there was a ton of junk in there...

    Relax and take your time with it. I did it as a total novice, not quite as scary as bad as I was expecting.
