Just bought my first helmet, had to go cheap on my budget. Even though I don't plan on riding the X until next summer I needed a helmet for the MSF next month (they have rentals but my dome is so big I'm a 3X so I doubt they'll have my size). My best buddy helped try it on.Anyways do you guys have any preferences on gloves? I need those as well for the course. I'll have full gear come next year but budget limits how much I can afford by next month (finally threw down money for the deposit on our wedding venue).

I prefer deerskin or elk over cowhide, and be careful about where the seams are.

Once you can afford it, I highly recommend these folks: http://www.jrcglove.com/

Awesome, will definitely check those out when I can. Vented or regular? Short wrist, long wrist, gauntlet? Also, where should the seams be?

You won't want seams on the palm.

I use whole grain leather, deerskin or moose preferred. I like gauntlets myself (I tuck them inside my jacket sleeve, but I don't think that's a huge issue, mostly preference. when you fall your wrist won't hit the ground, and a good jacket will protect you from the wind even with short wrists.

Those Caiman Mags are definitely in budget, are deerskin, and don't have seams on the palm. I'll have to try them first and buy more later, thank you guys.

To be honest my first few months of riding and during the classes I wore batting gloves that i used in mens softball team. They worked great for what i needed and were just laying around. Leather and didn't get hot. And for the classes where you're standing around a lot and not doing any riding it was nice to have. Now I drive with a pair of First gear textile gloves they breath really well, and have padding. Just thought id share.
