I'll have pictures up once I pick it up Saturday. The pictures the owner has aren't very good.

Make sure the PO shows you how to get to the fuel filler. It's not something you want to try and learn at the pump.

i wouldnt be worried as much about the fuel filter you have pressure pushing it from the fuel pump. If the pump or relay goes your stuck on the side of the road no limping it home.

I think he's talking about where to put the gas in, I think it's in a unique place on the vmax, but can't remember for sure.

it is strange putting it in between the seats for sure. I had aftermarket seats was even harder but you get used to it.

The releases (two of them) to flip the section of seat forward to get to the fuel filler ("gas cap") are well hidden. Way easier if someone shows you rather than searching for them.

The V-Max is a awsome bike, scary fast in a straight line. Be careful in the turns, it does not like them. The fuel filter is under the seat not hard to get to. 4 grand is a good price if it will start and run, if it needs carb work count on spending 200$ for parts to rebuild them. Make sure the fuel pump, filter and relay works good. If the fail it will strand you as I have alread found out. There is a set of contacts in the pump that get worn, I would check those before a long ride. Not hard to clean but lots of small parts in there to get misplaced.

OH, gas filler. my eyes were fuzzy after a 9 hour flight home.
Its under the seat, there are 2 relese levers right behind the shocks under the seat. Push them down at the same time and the seat will pop up.

You will like it i am sure. I really liked mine looking back now i shouldn't have sold it. Spent a few bucks on it changed the radiator fan switch back to higher temp so it wouldn't cook me. They look great and sound even better with a kerker but don't handle the best . Even after the 40+ dyno runs. the guy i sold it to put 40k + miles the first year he had it lost touch so i have no idea how many miles it has now. If you look at the pics in my signature i put one of those mini windshields on it it worked fantastic you wouldn't think so by the size of it

I have an '05, and I love it. I've had it for two years, and it hasn't given me a lick of trouble. It's a straight line rocket, but it is a little tense in the cornering. You get used to it though. I put a GenMar riser and a set of Flanders Drag Bars, and I feel I have a lot more control than I did with the stock bars. Plan on doing a lot more when the budget allows... the mods on this beast are a bit more expensive than the ol' XJ :(

You lucky guy. V-Max is a great bike. Although the factory seat is like a wedge of triangular wood after 5 hours or so, pointy end up. Best thing about them is the insane torque, no down shifting required for most things.
