    Welp, it's done.

Just traded in the '82 XJ Maxim for a 2011 Triumph Tiger 1050 SE.

The dealer took $100 less for the XJ than what I paid for it!! I was surprised it was able to trade in at all. It wasn't even registered, that would have cost me $80.

So that means I'm no longer an XJ owner, there are some things I miss. I'm so nervous that I'll harm my bike now...before, a dent would've totaled her!! More insurance money for me!

It's been a pleasure, and I hope you all take care of your XJ's. Truly a classic motorcycle.

    Cheers,
    Derek

Yeah.....what they said. Look under your screen-name. It says "RED LINER".

That means something-- it means you've posted a whole HECK of a lot of postings.

It ALSO most assuredly means that a LOT of those posts were very useful, helpful, and insightful posts. You are a part of the collective XJ Brain. Please don't go. Just because you don't have the xj anymore doesn't mean that all your knowledge of the bike has left.

Of course, it could mean that you posted 610 posts worth of blather................but I DOUBT that's the case. LOL

HA!!!! You guys are busy at night. Ok, I'll keep an eye on things, but I won't be having too many questions about the XJ. Maybe I'll have some answers though.

In the meantime you can check out my prolific blather for my Tiger here, if you'd like.

Maybe if I blathered more I'd be a wizard by now!!!

I wouldn't mind having a Triumph Speedmaster or Thunderbird.

Odds lay on someday there will be yet another XJ that sneaks it way into your life. When it does. You know where to come!

Yea, but then she would've wanted to ride MY bike!!!!!!! Lack of kickstand never bothered me, in fact on my new bike I always feel like the stand is just going to break and the bikes gonna tumble, plus you can use the center stand no matter which way the hill is facing!! I eventually learned how to use it like a kickstand, i didn't even have to get off the bike to put it up.

Someone had previously tried to put a replacement on there and seriously messed up the surface where it mounts, and removed the safety switches. Plus, as a daily driver, I couldn't get the down time required to modify the frame.

    Glad you're gonna stick around.
