hey guys I just got my 82' XJ550 that I Cafe'd out and pretty happy with it except the front end. It's bouncy as hell and have been reading about fork swaps. An R6 I've read is the most direct BUT I can get a Crazy deal on my buddy's 99' GSXR 750 complete parts bike and was wondering if it would be Swap worthy??? It is an inverted style fork setup which I like and hope it can work. Thanks for any input or advice. Thing is I can get this whole bike cheaper than what I've seen R6 Forks go for

The front should not be bouncy.
    Did you rebuild the forks?

    As for the GSXR fork...

    1. It'll look goofy (some people think differently).

    2. Check the All-Balls website to see if there are bearings available that make the swap possible without needing to alter the steering stem on the GSXR forks.

I just got the bike last month after last owner left sitting for 2 years. I really fell in love with it and want to give it a good life so I'm doing all the basics and noticed on my first ride that every little bump felt drastic. I have a lot to learn about these bikes so I Will do more research how to get it Right before I jump into a project. I Just Wanna Ride man!!!

Read the first link in my signature. That pretty-well covers most everything.

I just did a gsxr front end swap with an 02 750. The stem length from the gsxr is too short. Even with a bearing kit from all balls it will not bolt on as is. You have a few options of how to proceed.
    • Lengthen the gsxr stem. (Chop in half and put an extension in the middle.)
    • Replace the stem. Have 1 custom made through a company such as cognito moto. There are others, I just don't know off the top of my head. And then have them press in the new stem.
    • Buy a new/custom triple tree setup. That's what I did because I loved the look of it.
Be prepared to spend some cash on it still. I would recommend getting everything else on the bike as you want and then go for the swap if you choose.
