Quick question, and comes from me mostly not understanding terminology.

Does the 82 Xj650 have a 'throttle by wire' setup? I know it has a throttle cable, but again, I'm a bit off on these.

I'm looking at the Kuryakyn 6345 Universal grips for metrics to replace my OEM grips, as the foam is just about dead. Linked here. Amazon Link

I'm hoping they fit, bu tit says you need to do a "Throttle by Wire" setup to install them, and not wanting to blow 65 bucks on something I need to send back.

I like those, but the universal PN is different (6341) on polocks link.....
Kuryakyn's customer service is pretty good. talk to them... they will set you up right.

Hmm, you're right, the pin is different. I'll have to give them a call and see.

My only worry is I looked up an install video on youtube, and it said just snap it in, but my throttle has some white tube that just has the grip over it.

yea... that white tube is what controls the throttle cable. The handgrip should go over the white tube.

Found out differently, actually. I picked up the same model 6345 from the local yamaha shop, and tried them. They're designed to replace the white tub, but the neck that inserts into the cable body holder thingy with the starter/kill switch on it is too wide. I've returned them, and had them order me the other one.

    live and learn! Thanks!

Now to figure out how to mount a rear trailer fender without welding, so my back quits getting covered in junk.
