Peeps where could I find brand new set of electrical controls, and throttle control for the bike. I was thinking of using the XS 650 electrical controls for my Maxim 82 750, but i dont know if that will work...but I know i want something new.

I do not believe that you are going to be able to easily find NEW control switch units for your bike, haven't been available thru Yamaha for quite some time.

Unless yours have suffered some type of physical damage, it is not that difficult (tedious, yes, somewhat time-consuming, sure!) to "rebuild" your original switches, as the problem that most of them suffer from is merely corroded connectors internal to the switch, which a bit of snadpaper-ing of the electrical contacts, and re-lubrication of the switch mechanisms, will bring back to life!

You could use the XS stuff but you would need to cross over the functions and such to fit the XJ harness. I'm with Chacal on rebuilding your originals. Cheaper path.

Let us know if you run into trouble, however I doubt you will.

    ALSO:

    Warning, warning, Danger Will Robinson!:

Make DARNED SURE that you make yourself a little schematic diagram of how the wires are routed around the wire clamps, around different pegs and ledges, etc. inside the switch housing AS YOU"RE TAKING IT APART, as it is not at all intuitive at all and they can only go back (properly) one way. Also, which little screws go where, as there are usually a variety of similar-but-different sized screws that hold down the brackets, switches, ground wires, etc. etc.. Also take great care to note how the turn signal lever assembly goes in place.

Again, none of the above stuff is rocket-science, but once it's taken apart, you'll learn that, hmmm, there's two or three perfectly plausible ways that you COULD put Humpty back together....wonder which way is correct?......

I use bikebandit.com... had no problem finding any part.
Not the cheapest place but, easy to find parts.
