I want to put some straight bars on my '85 XJ700 and just wondering how much I should raise the bars to keep from hitting the tank. I'm new to this so what size risers are there and should I get.

Just turn the handlebars all the way to the right and see how high they have to be to clear the tank, then measure how high the risers need to be. Then do it with the handlebars all the way to the left to make sure it works that way too. You can just use a stick if you don't have a pair of bars to use. I figure you will need atleast 4" risers to clear the tank. PD
