I'm looking into "eventual" modifications that I'd like to do to my '82 Seca as I get closer to having it in perfect mechanical condition. I'd like to replace my handlebars with some simpler, cleaner looking ones that would allow for bar end mirrors, but the problem is that I am putting in stainless brake lines and a new clutch cable this week, and I'm not going to buy new cables just to have a nicer look. Has anyone been able to swap out handlebars while retaining the original lines?

Does the '82 SECA have the hidden master cylinder? I ran a 4" pull back riser and drag bars on an'81 SECA 750 with the stock cables.

All the Seca 750s have the remote master cylinder, unless an owner replaced it with a bar-mounted master.

OP As long as you don't go too crazy with different bar dimensions (width, pullback, rise) you can use the stock cables. I have EMGO Classic bars on mine, and others have Bikemaster Daytona bars. There are several other options, just watch what the dimensions of the bars are.

That cable remote master cyl was the worst if you driving fast. Hated it on my first 750 in 1981. Hauling it down from high speed it felt squeezing a wet sponge. But it did prevent over reacting in the wet .

It's much better with braided steel lines. Nearly as good as a regular master cylinder on a lighter bike.

Thanks all. K-moe, do you happen to know what the dimensions of the bars on our bikes are? Can't find anything on it online.

'82 Seca 750 stock handle bars are 7/8" diameter, 27" end to end spread, 6" rise/pull back and 10" center spread to first bends.

Awesome, thanks! I'm assuming that you mean that the rise and pullback distance is equal?

No, I did not state it well. The six inch measurement is from the the first bend to the second bend, with the six inch section flat on the floor the ends of the bars are about 4" high.

I always had to pull the bars down till they knocked the tank to get an even semi comfortable grip angle. That's why I went with drag bars. My boy who's got six inches in height on me liked the stock bars better.
