Handlebars

    Hey Guys,

    Im looking to replace my handlebars. What im thinking is chrome bars and chrome switches. trying to find a good set off ebay. what im looking for is A) pics that anybody has of similiar setups? and a place to find chrome switches, i cant find anything thats not disgusting. or do you guys think black switches and etc.. is a better look?

    a lot of people get Harley controls and wire them up

    Have you thought of just polishing the alloy ones you have now ???

    Good point. Your current control 'pods' are alloy that's been painted with some very tough black paint. Once you get them stripped, they do in fact polish up very nicely.

    Harleys use 1" handlebars; the Yamahas use standard 7/8" bars (except those with cast bars.)

    the problem with using the stuff i have now is its from 1981 haha and it looks like it. was gonna get new bar, grips, front brake/clutch controls. just cant decide between colors. hard to find nice looking switches tho.

    Once you're done stripping the paint and polishing they'll look brand new. Don't forget to clean up the electrical contacts while the switchgear is apart.

    Find a motorcycle wrecker and get a pair that are more modern then. Get an Auto electrician to change the connection plugs (They will most likely be different to the XJ's)
    The "modern look" may not need "improvement" ..
