I have a chance to buy some hardbags (with mounting hardware) that are currently mounted on an '82 xj750 Seca. Would the mounting hardware "align" on my '82 xj650 maxim? Anyone out there know the answer to this, it would probably make the difference in my purchasing them. Thanks in advance if you know the answer to this.

well if it helps I fabricated saddle bag mounting plates for my bike that will allow me to put any kind of bag I want. basiclly just some aluminum plates and I deleted the side gips, used the frame brackets as one point of attachment and an "arm" coming of the top of the shock mounting bolt (where the other end of the side grip bolted to) offset the "arm" and used a 4 inch 5/16 grade 8 bolt and a tube spacer to "stand it off" away from the rear tire and give the shocks clearance. the plate also protects anything from hitting my bags from stray flyin stuff off the road ( say kicked up by the tire or something) this fab up allows me to bolt up any bag configuration I want. If its something you are interested in I can take some pics but in my opinion any fab can be adapted. that being said if you are looking something easy then I think the maxim frame is a bit different from behind the tank to back, as in dips down a little where a seca frame is moer a straight line like a sportster. but I wont swear to gospel on that
