I went for a ride the other night, and I noticed the headlight and auxilary light were not working. I checked the bulb on the headlight, and the fuse behind the headlight. I also tried to find the headlight relay and check that, but am not sure which relay it is. The fuses under the seat all look fine and everything else is working. Any ideas? This is on a 1982 XJ 750 Maxim. Thanks.

Had a similar experience last year on my Max. No headlight. Beat on the fuse block and sometimes it would work and others not. Really annoyed me because it was intermittent. I still cannot say with any certainty that it was the fuse box. I'll try to catch your question later, got to go to a party. Peace.

I had this problem, my HEAD warning LCD was not on, and neither the headlight or aux light would turn on. It turned out to be a blown fuse under the seat. If you have ceramic fuses test them with a multimeter or a test light just to be sure there isnt a break you cant see. Also it could be the relay.

I tested all the fuses today and all tested good. Next step is to test the relay. When I find the relay, how would I test it?

My xj750rh service manual says the head light relay is under the gas tank.

I finally got the headlight/auxilary light working. I switched the turn signal fuse and the headlight fuse around, and now they both work. Weird, but someone had installed a 15 amp fuse in the turn signal fuse holder and a 10 amp in the headlight fuse holder. I think they are all supposed to be 10 amp except the main which is supposed to be a 30 amp? I am going to get some new fuses to keep on hand, because I am sure this will happen again. Thanks for your help and suggestions.
