Headlight on XJ550 1981

    Does the headlight only come on when the engine is running ? How about the instrument lights as well ?

    Yes the headlight does come on when the engine is running. The instrument lights are on the same ciruit.

    I think what you really might have been asking is does the headlight only come on once the engine is running. The answer is yes. The instrument lights, such as neutral and oil, should come on when you switch on the ignition.
